Meniscus Injury

A tear or damage to the meniscus, the C-shaped cartilage that cushions and stabilizes the knee joint, often caused by twisting, pivoting, or degenerative wear.

What is Meniscus Injury?

The knee has two menisci that act as shock absorbers between the femur and tibia. Tears can be acute from trauma or degenerative from age-related wear. Symptoms include pain, swelling, clicking, locking, and limited range of motion. Treatment ranges from conservative care and regenerative therapies to arthroscopic surgery.

Who is it for?

Patients with knee pain, swelling, clicking, or locking sensations, particularly after a twisting injury or with gradual onset of knee dysfunction.

Benefits

  • Ultrasound and physical exam can identify tears
  • Many tears respond to conservative treatment
  • PRP may support meniscal healing
